Coca-Cola Chicken Wings are a unique twist on classic fried chicken, where the sweetness of cola meets savory soy and aromatic ginger to create a sticky, flavorful glaze. Ingredients:

  • 8–10 chicken wings
  • 1 can (about 330ml) Coca-Cola
  • 3–4 slices ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Optional Garnish: minced garlic, sliced green onions, sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken Wings:

    • Wash the chicken wings thoroughly under running water.
    • (Optional) Blanch the wings by boiling them in water for a few minutes to remove any blood or impurities. Drain and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Fry the Chicken Wings:

    • Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom.
    • Fry the chicken wings until they are golden brown on both sides, about 5–7 minutes per side.
    • Remove the wings from the pan and set them aside.
  3. Make the Sauce:

    • In the same pan, add the sliced ginger and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Pour in the Coca-Cola, soy sauce, and season with salt and black pepper. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Cook the Chicken Wings:

    • Add the fried chicken wings back into the pan, ensuring they are mostly submerged in the sauce.
    • Reduce the heat to low and simmer the wings until the sauce thickens and the chicken is cooked through, about 20–30 minutes, depending on the size of the wings. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even coating.
  5. Serve:

    • Once the sauce has thickened to a glaze and the wings are fully cooked, remove the wings from the pan.
    • Serve hot, garnished with minced garlic, sliced green onions, or sesame seeds if desired.

Tips:

  • Adjust the sweetness and saltiness of the sauce by adding more or less Coca-Cola and soy sauce to suit your taste.
  • For a more intense flavor, marinate the chicken wings in soy sauce, ginger, and garlic for a few hours before frying.
